Steve’s big issue of the week is his resignation from Priory Woods. There are many reasons, but it boils down to three, I think:

1. Kids with profound and multiple learning difficulties just don’t give the level of feedback I need;
2. The problems of delivering the National Curriculum to children with such a minimal level of understanding just never clicked with me. I could have fun, play, and, perhaps educate, but producing the evidence was beyond me;
3. Maybe I just need to keep on the move in order to stop people finding out just how hopeless I am.
All very amicable (as usual!), but there are many aspects of the school and many people (staff and children) I will miss greatly.

A trip to “Supply Desk”, my agent in past times and now good friends, reassured me that maintaining an income would not be difficult, with supply work still booming. I’m not certain how I view supply work – it can be great or terrible, but either way there is no need to return!

One tremendous happening of this week is the sorting out of my dispute with NTL. In brief, they continued to charge us after we moved from our last house, then when they could charge no more began sending us demanding letters as the debt built up. Phoning NTL is a soul destroying experience. It takes ages, forces you to listen to terrible jingles and talk to many unhelpful people as you are transferred around the departments. More to the point, whatever is decided and promised, nothing happens, and the next time you call there is no record of anything that has gone before. I now have absolute confidence that all is sorted and a refund is now residing in our Visa account. I even have my email address back. The name “Rachel David” (surely NTL’s most wonderful employee) still brings a warm glow to my heart.

Jenny enjoyed her first proper part time week, with three days (or, I suppose, five days) home and two at work. She spent time painting upstairs (as we try, yet again, to sort out and create space for living in instead of clutter) and had a trip to Durham, where she’s involved in St. Antony's Priory on Claypath, on Wednesday. Jen was a little anxious about her new class, but everything was fine. It should work, but her partner sharing the class will not be there for ever…
