Details:
The Seafarer was designed as a more stable training boat than the Wayfarer, commissioned, I've been told, by the National Sailing Centre. Stable and fast, but compromises have been made in accommodation. The Seafarer is an excellent camping boat - but don't expect standing headroom and a sea toilet.

This is one of the latest built, and has a self draining cockpit. This obviously makes life much more convenient for leaving the boat on a pontoon or mooring as well as safer in large seas. I have sailed Bechod and other Seafarers in winds up to F7 - exciting, but reassuring!

Cruising speed with a decent breeze (or engine!) about five knots.

I first bought "Bechod" when I was a sailing instructor some eighteen years ago, on behalf of my sailing school. After I had moved on the Centre changed hands and sailing was no longer offered and the boats (we had three Seafarers) were sold. My brother bought "Bechod", had a full survey and various works done, including refitting the keel and renewing various parts. He moved on to a real yacht, and five years ago I bought "Bechod" again. She lives on a pontoon berth in Hartlepool and been used for day trips (sailing and fishing - often single handed) and longer holidays.

Large rear hatch holds fuel tanks, buckets etc. I'm rather proud of the laminated tiller!
Bilge pump deals with any water going below.
Cabin is great for gear and the odd night on an airbed - or longer for folks hardier than I

This winter "Bechod" has lived outside our house (thanks to tolerant neighbours) to allow me to complete bits of work. In particular, the sea cocks for the self drainers were seized - now renewed, and the centreplate winch used to be a trailer winch which had almost rusted away. I anti-fouled this morning (claiming I only did the boat would not be totally true - I don't expect to get nits any time soon!). The photos all show bits of grubbiness associated with living under trees for the past few months.

Engine mounts on a lowering bracket....
And is clean and tidy....
And has been totally reliable.

What's included:

The whole boat package is ready to sail, motor or trail.

Transom hung rudder will swing up to reduce draught.
New anti-fouling and great trailer!

Urmmm...
New anti-fouling and great trailer!

Such a great boat - but why sell? I'm looking for something smaller and lighter - a dinghy, in fact. "Bechod" is great to leave on a pontoon berth and take out now and again, but a dinghy would give more flexibility for travelling to new areas. So, I'll certainly consider a decent Wayfarer or similar in part exchange.

Bechod's now in Hartlepool, so viewing will have to happen there. Come and see it, possibly even get out for a sail. Here are a few more pictures:

Anchor, chain and loads of rope.
Didn't really come out - that's a two foot ruler!

New (well, actually reclaimed from a scrapped yacht) centreplate winch.

Standard Mariner fuel tank + bouyancy aids
No dents or bends.

New seacocks and pipes - obviously not left open like this, but simply lift a board for access.

Any questions? Send me an email and I'll do my best to answer.

If you want to see a whole bunch of Seafarers, Solva Harbour in Pembrokeshire is a good place. They mostly live on drying moorings there.
