Playing the Guitar - a tutorial

All of Jenny's family are musical. They play instruments, sing, understand peculiar musical notation and all of the stuff I once assumed was only for incredibly gifted people. Jenny's two sisters found musicians to marry, but she, alas, settled for a talentless muddler.

In the late twentieth century, though, I found myself on a short (three one hour sessions) course with an inspirational musician and teacher called John Forsyth. He took about thirty teachers with no skill or experience and turned us into guitarists.

By "guitarist" I mean one who can strum a few chords to accompany a song. My playing has never extended beyond this, but that's such a good prop when teaching (all sorts of songs come into literacy, numeracy, citizenship, having fun...) that I'm mostly happy.

So, here is the method I used, adapted somewhat and stuck into a word file. It's not particularly well put together, and if you decide to edit it or otherwise muck about you'll find some odd formatting, but it should download and print off with no problem.
